Opinions and convictions

I have strong opinions about food. Other things as well, but this Blog is mostly about cooking, and I do get...intense about food. I'll list them here. First and foremost: Food allergies, dietary restrictions and personal preferences are all valid and must be taken into account when cooking for others. This does not mean everyone must be able to eat every dish you make, but everyone you've offered to cook for should at least have a complete meal they can safely and freely enjoy. Cooking for someone who is deathly allergic to any kind of nightshade takes different precautions from cooking for someone who just can't have more than a little bit of something. But it is entirely up to the guest if they feel like they need to elaborate.   Other opinions: Food waste (should be...

Goblin Surprise

Hi! I'm a Dutch Larper who cooks. I've occasionally cooked at Larps, either for a small group or for the entire Larp. The biggest group I've planned and cooked for was eighty people. Not by myself, of course, I almost always have plenty of hands helping out <3 I've planned and cooked period-appropriate banquets, post-apocalyptic spreads, futuristic fusion snacks and invented a few fantasy dishes as well, including Goblin Surprise. What is Goblin Surprise? Goblin Surprise is often the last lunch of the weekend, where you have leftovers from the big Saturday dinner, bits of leftover ingredients, and a good helping of creativity. It's Larpers' Iron Chef cooking. And it's...usually surprisingly good! So, that's the surprise. And I'm the goblin.
